Mr. Tracey Lamont Thomas, 45, of 401 North Oakland Avenue, Statesville, N.C., passed away at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, on Friday, November 10, 2017, following an extended illness. He was born in Iredell County on July 29, 1972, and was the son of Jacquelyn Scott Thomas and the late Samuel Paul “Booster” Thomas, Jr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Devon Paul Thomas, and a brother, Paul Erickson Thomas.

He was a graduate of Statesville High School and received his CNA Certification and his Phlebotomy Certification from Mitchell Community College. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, in addition to his mother, Jackie of Statesville; one son, Ollie James Thomas of Cornelius; two daughters, Danielle Nicole Thomas of Cornelius and Railyn Maggie Thomas of Taylorsville; two brothers, Toron (Yvonne) Thomas Sr. of Clarksville, Tenn., and Stacey Thomas of Statesville; one sister, Sharondria “Ronnie” Thomas of Statesville; one grandchild, Kaelan Isiah Rhodes; four nephews and nieces, Toron Thomas Jr. of Clarksville, Tenn., Alonja B. Thomas of the U.S. Air Force, Quashawn D. Thomas and Quiana J. Thomas, both of Statesville; a host of uncles and aunts, William Ike (Joanne) Thomas of Charlotte, Steven "Keith" (Barbara) Thomas of Bradenton, Fla., Mitchell "Shay" Thomas of Hickory, Carrie "Keita" (Larry) Gabriel of Statesville, Harold "Leon" (Jane) Thomas of Wilmington, Charles (Wendy) Thomas of Sherrills Ford, Manasseh "Nasseh" Thomas and Andrew "Jim" Thomas, both of Troutman; three aunts, Emma Jean Morrison Huggins and Myrle Thomas, both of Statesville, and Mildred Thomas of Winston-Salem; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Thursday, November 16, 2017, at 12 noon at St. John Baptist Church. Reverend Burrel Brooks is Pastor and Reverend Norman Dudley will Officiate. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Park.

Mr. Thomas will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 10:30 a.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. until 12 noon, prior to the funeral hour, but will assemble at the residence of his mother, Mrs. Jacquelyn Thomas, 1809 North Berkley Road, Statesville, at other times.
