Mr. Rickey Eugene Lewis departed this life on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at his residence, following an extended illness. He was born in Iredell County on November 26, 1950, and was the son of the late Jean Lewis Young.

Rickey attended Unity High School. He resided in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1981 until 1994. He moved back to Statesville for a short period of time and then moved to High Point, N.C. where he worked for his uncle, Stanley Lewis, for a number of years. Rick was a volunteer cook at Urban Ministry, where he cooked breakfast every morning. He worked for the past seven years for the Church of God of Prophecy in Jamestown. He was a custodian for Parkwood Baptist Church and he volunteered in the pantry from 2009 to October 2017.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, one daughter, Tiffany Gregory of Statesville; two granddaughters, Kayla and Nadia of Statesville; one aunt, Marceil Floyd of Philadelphia, Pa.; two uncles, Jeff Lewis of Statesville, and William Stanley (Almeta) Lewis, of Archdale, N.C; special friends, Rhonda Ivey, Pinkey, and Dean Jordan; a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary in Statesville.
