Heaven received a special child of God and very Proud Marine on February 3, 2018, when Dick Martin went to his eternal home surrounded by his loving Family and Friends.

Born in Alexander County to Ralph and Hilda Martin, Dick became a Husband, a loving Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Marine and Friend to everyone who ever had the pleasure of knowing him.

Dick was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Sharpe, sons Dennis Klonoski and Brad Shaver, and granddaughter Madison Shaver.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Pat; brother Bill Martin (Nancy); daughters Lisa Schafer, Wendi Anthony, Misti Murray and Shane Sparks (Joey); sons Mike and Kenny Klonoski and Chad Shaver. He is also survived by grandchildren, Chris Klonoski (Callista), Jessica and Bekah Schafer, Brenden and Taylor Anthony, Brittani and Brooke Murray, Devin Haire, Peyton Sparks, Josh Shaver. Great Grandchild Zachary Klonoski. Also surviving are a very special young man to Dick, Tanner Brown Sigmon, and the mother of seven of Dick's children, Carolyn Saunders.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, at Nicholson Funeral Home 135 E. Front Street, Statesville. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Front Street Baptist Church, 1403 W. Front Street, Statesville. Burial with full Military Honors will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

The Family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to McLeod Hospice, P.O. Box 10055, Florence, SC 29502 or Myrtle Beach Christian Retreat, 1405 Poinsette Street, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582, or to the charity of your choice.
