Frances Ann Long Guyden

Mrs. Frances Ann Long Guyden, 81, of 1305 Forest Park Terrace, Statesville, N.C., passed away at the Gordon Hospice House, on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, following an extended illness. She was born in Iredell County on September 2, 1936, and was the daughter of the late McKinley Long and Viola Furr Long Cooper. She was married to Henry I. Guyden, who preceded her in death. A grandson, Rickey Guyden, II, also preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of Morningside High School and Shaw University. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life five sons, Franklin Long of the home, Keith Guyden, Rickey (Queen) Guyden, Richard Guyden and Newby Guyden, all of Detroit; Mich.; five daughters, Tricia Guyden of Detroit, Mich., Decola Young of Alabama, Brenda Guyden, Cheryl Guyden and Carolyn (Jake) Pettway, all of Detroit; Mich.; one step-sister, Isabell Pierce of Atlanta, Ga.; twelve grandchildren, Sparkle Sharpe of Statesville, Tromone Guyden, Edward Shazier Lawrence Guyden, Janie James, Carlo James Jr., Lotoya Guyden, Angel McGhee, Brian Brown, Patricia Clarke, Lisa Pettway, and Christoper Pettway, all of Detroit, Mich.; ten great-grandchildren, Myesha, Aniyah, Jazlyn, Dasia, Jason, Christian, Lauren, Antonio, Piper, and Zaya, all of Detroit; Mich.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Members of the family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home, but will assemble at the residence at other times.
