Edmond “Jabo” Leon McDonald, 82, of Statesville, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Autumn Care.

He loved to work and was a firm believer in the scripture from Genesis 3:19 (NIV): "By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground…”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Milton McDonald and Barbara McDonald, along with a number of brothers and sisters.

Along with his wife Shirley McDonald, he is survived by five children, Leon McDonald Jr., Mary Lee McDonald, Edmond Eugene McDonald III, Debbie Bailey and Kelly McDonald, all of Statesville; and two sisters, Mary Perry of Salisbury and Geneva Farrar of Statesville; along with a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
