​Colala Reavis Pettit

Colala Reavis Pettit, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 30, 2017, from Jurney’s Assisted Living Center. Born January 28, 1928, she was the youngest and last surviving child of the late Eugene C. Reavis Sr. and Sadie Yount Reavis. Colala was a licensed cosmetologist and worked until recent years. She was owner-operator of Haircutters, Unlimited on Shelton Avenue, where she had many loyal customers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Pettit; two brothers, E.C. Jr. and Cooledge Reavis; and two sisters, Hazel Johnson and Helen Williams.

Her memory will be cherished by two surviving sons, Floyd H. Pettit Jr. and wife, Amy, and Steven Gray Pettit, both of Statesville; four grandchildren: Justin, Aaron, Clinton and Charlotte Pettit; and two great- grandchildren, Victoria and Nevaeh Pettit.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, at Reavis Funeral Home of Statesville (318 Davie Avenue). The service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Frank Blankenship officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Reavis Family Cemetery in Yadkin County.
