Clara Bell Rucker Daye

Mrs. Clara Bell Rucker Daye, 78, of 621 South Race Street, Statesville, passed away at her home on Thursday, February 1, 2018, following an extended illness. She was born in Iredell County on December 14, 1939, and was the daughter of the late James and Cornelia Scott Rucker. She was married to Harold Theodore Daye, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Marie Daye, and a sister, Gertrude Blackwell.
She was a graduate of Morningside High School and was a member of the Highland Acres Church of Christ.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, four sons, Frederick Theodore (Vernell) Daye, Clifford Dwayne (Nancy) Daye and Ronald Lee Washington, all of Statesville, and James Scotty (Eva) Daye of Cooleemee; three daughters, Carol Ann (Bernard) Jamison of the home, Michelle (Johnny) Byard of Statesville and Mahalia (Lynn) Washington-Hartle of Concord; one step-daughter, Margaret Cynthia (Danny Wayne) Ikard of Statesville; two brothers, Leonard Rucker and Milton Rucker, both of New York; one sister, Lula Mae Rucker of Statesville; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, the Highland Acres Church Family and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Highland Acres Church of Christ. Brother Al Simmons will officiate and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Mrs. Daye will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 12:30 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other time.
