Two sex offenders charged with failing to notify authorities of address change
FROM STAFF REPORTS
Two registered sex offenders face charges of failing to notify law enforcement authorities that they had moved, Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell announced Tuesday.
Zysean James White, 24, was arrested on Monday, Feb. 12, and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center in lieu of a $15,000 bond, according to an ICSO news release.
The ICSO Special Victim’s Unit received information from the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office that White, who was registered as homeless in Mecklenburg County, was living on East Sharpe Street in Statesville, Campbell said.
Deputy Adams interviewed witnesses in the area and monitored the address for activity and a possible sighting of the suspect. After seeing White at the residence, Adams obtained a warrant charging him with Failure to Register in Iredell County.
According to the ICSO, White was convicted of Indecent Liberties with a Minor in 2014.
Earlier this month registered sex offender Timothy Wayne Tezino, 43, was charged with failing to notify the sheriff's office that he had moved, Campbell said.
In December, the ICSO Special Victims Unit received information that Tezino had moved to Mecklenburg County from his address on Stockton Steet in Statesville.
Based on this information, Deputy Adams secured a felony warrant charging Tezino with failure to notify the sheriff's office of his address change.
Tezino was arrested in Mecklenburg County by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 2. He was placed in the Mecklenburg County Detention Center under a $3,000 bond.
According to the ICSO, Tezino was convicted of Indecent Liberties with a Minor in May of 2000 and placed on the Sex Offender Registry. He also has pending charges of Sex Offender on Child Premises, and Habitual Felon.
