SPD: Shots fired during chase struck home

Statesville police are working to identify the individuals who were involved in a gun battle in which shots were fired on Harris Street, West Front Street and West End Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a SPD news release, officers responded to multiple calls in regard to shots being fired in the area of Harris Street, Charles Street and Lerain Court around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Bullets struck a home on Harris Street, which was occupied at the time, police said. No injuries were reported.
Witnesses told officers that a white Ford truck was being chased by a PT Cruiser with wood grain panels. According to the news release, a black male passenger in the PT Cruiser was observed firing at the truck.
Shell casings were found on Harris Street near Charles Street.
About 90 minutes later, witnesses told police they saw an individual firing a gun from a Chrysler PT Cruiser with wood grain panels while traveling east on West Front Street near West End Avenue.
Witnesses also saw a white Ford pickup and a tan SUV, which were possibly involved, police said.
Shell casings were found on West Front Street near Family Dollar and along West End Avenue near Front Street.
SPD investigators processed the area and collected shell casings. According to the news release, officers later located the PT Cruiser parked behind a residence on Wilson Lee Boulevard. The vehicle had multiple bullet holes.
Investigators processed the vehicle and interviewed witnesses. No arrests were reported.
