SPD: Man assaulted, robbed while walking home

Statesville police are investigating after a man said he was assaulted and robbed while home from a residence on Sarah Laura Lane early Saturday morning.

The victim said he was approached by four males about 2:55 a.m., according to an SPD news release. The suspects assaulted him and took his phone before leaving the area in a red hatchback car, the victim told police

The suspects were described as three white males and one Latino male.

The SPD is investigating the following crime reports:

• Common Law Robbery/Vehicle Theft, Wall Street: Victim was on 8th Street to see acquaintance. Agreed to give a black male a ride to Food Lion. While driving, victim was going to stop on Wall Street and get a drink. Suspect then punched her. Victim got out of car to escape the assault. Suspect then got in driver seat and left, stealing her car. Car waslater found parked at residence on Old Charlotte Road.

• Attempted Breaking & Entering a Business, Statesville Jewely & Loan, Davie Avenue, Dec. 3: Alarm response. Officer discovered power box broken along with wiring to the building cut. No entry, all of the power box and components had just been repaired from prior B&E.

• Attempted Breaking & Entering a Residence, 900 block of Conner Street, Nov. 30 or Dec. 1: Suspect tried to kick back door in. No entry.

• Breaking & Enterin/Larceny from a Residence, 1300 block of Harris Street, Nov. 29 or 30: No sign of forced entry. TV stolen from spare bedroom.

• Breaking & Entering/Larceny from a Residence, 500 block of Concord Avenue, Nov. 29: Back and front doors left unlocked. Suspects stole a 45-inch flat TV, two hover rounds, two pairs of gold Nike shoes, a Sony PS4, an iMac belonging to Statesville High, and an iMac belonging to Troutman Middle.
