SPD crime prevention officer honored by Boy Scouts of America

Statesville Police Crime Prevention Officer Chan Austin was recently honored as the Law Enforcement Explorers Advisor of the Year by the Piedmont Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

The Statesville Police Department's Explorer’s Program (Post #366) is open to students ages 14-20 who are interested in learning about team work, leadership, and law enforcement as a career through firsthand experience.

Austin was recognized at the Exploring Banquet held at Cleveland Community College on May 2. The Piedmont Council Exploring Program serves 11 counties.
