SPD: Vehicle, house hit by bullets during shootout on Deaton Street

Statesville police are investigating an incident in which two men fired shots at each other on Thursday evening on Deaton Street, according to an SPD news relese.

Officers responded to the 300 block of Deaton Street about 6 p.m., Capt. Bryan Johnson said in the news release.

Officers found several shell casings in the area, and are looking into reports that two men argued outside of a residence and then opened fire, Johnson said.

A home and a parked vehicle were struck by bullets, but no injuries were reported, according to the news release.

No suspect descriptions were available. The Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene.

Felony Arrests

The SPD reported the following arrests:

NOVEMBER 29

David Louis Mathis, 58, of Statesville, charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor breaking and entering.

Lisa Marie Paris, 56, of Statesville, charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor breaking and entering.

NOVEMBER 30

Demario Lashaun Robinson, 31, of Statesville, charged with assault inflicting serious injury.
