Holiday Shop & Stroll Spectacular

When: Friday, December 1, 5:30 to 9 p.m.
Where: Downtown Statesville, 112 S. Center Street, Statesville
Details: Enjoy a fun evening of merchant open houses, stroll the sidewalks, listen to carolers, and enjoy the sparkle of holiday lights. Make memories with the little ones as you enjoy fun activities happening throughout the night, including horse-drawn carriage rides and visit with Santa in the Historic City Hall’s “Santa Central.” Kids can make holiday crafts in Santa’s workshop and enjoy snacks and hot chocolate. Santa will arrive with his elves around 6 p.m. to oversee the official countdown and kick off, along with Christmas tree lighting. Troutman Christmas Parade

When: Saturday, December 2, 11 a.m.
Where: Downtown Troutman
Details: This year's parade participation includes 961 participants. Participants include the West Iredell Band, the Troutman Elementary Music Ensemble, public officials, beauty queens, classic cars, floats, and 200 Acrofitness performers, all decked out in their holiday finest. There will also be a Toys for Tots trailer traveling behind Santa this year collecting toys for children of all ages. Community members may also bring toys to Town Hall any time by Friday, December 2. WSIC will be broadcasting the parade live from the Troutman Depot.


Running of the Elves, 2017

When: Saturday, Dec. 2, 5 p.m.
Where: Mitchell Community College, 500 W Broad St, Statesville
Details: This will be a 3K (walking), 5K and 10K running road race through historic areas of Statesville. The course will go through Christmas lights and carolers cheering the runners on. There will be a costume contest before the race. 5K and 10K registration can be done on this site or in person at the early packet pickup or on Race Day starting at 3 .pm. 3K registration will be the day of the event at check-in. Cost is $25 for the 5K and 10K. This year we are very proud to be donating the proceeds from the event to the Stephanie Kastor Chapman Memorial Scholarship. If you have any questions, email runningoftheelves@gmail.com There will be early packet pickup and registration on Dec. 1, at Mitchell Community College, 500 West Broad Street, Statesville. Pick up is from 4 to 6:30 p.m. You can register on Race Day from 3 to 4:45 p.m. Costume Contest will be at 4 p.m. and race will begin at 5 p.m. sharp.


Christmas Holiday Special

When: Saturday, December 2, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Mac Gray Auditorium, 474 North Center Street, Statesville
Details: Performing Arts Live of Iredell hosts this holiday special. The concert will feature North Carolina’s own Joshua Carswell, Page Park, the Hall Sisters and other guest artists, and is guaranteed to add to the joy of your holiday season. 16th Annual Walk to the Stable

When: Saturday, December 2, and Sunday, December 3, 5 to 8 p.m.
Where: New Salem United Methodist Church, 155 New Salem Church Road, Statesville
Details: Experience the news of the birth of Christ recreated. Bus parking. Golf carts available for handicapped persons. Call 704-872-6097 for more information.


I Run With Adkins 5k Fun Run/Walk

When: Sunday, December 3, 2 to 5 p.m.
Where: City of Statesville, Soccer Complex, 2012 Simonton Road, Statesville
Details: Pre-registration is $20 and includes a T-shirt and 5 raffle tickets. Day of registration is $25 and includes a T-shirt. There will be a rock painting booth for a donation to benefit Cindy. A raffle for handmade crafts and gift certificates will also be available.


Nutcracker Dance-A-Story Workshop

When: Sunday, December 3, 1 p.m.
Where: Statesville Family YMCA Dance Academy, 828 Wesley Drive, Statesville 704-873-9622
Details: Young children are introduced to the world of ballet through classic stories, creative movement, music, a prop and costume show and tell and a takeaway activity. This one-hour fun, interactive workshop is taught by a professional teaching artist from The Charlotte Ballet. Cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Open to children ages 3 to 6.
