A November run-off is possible in the race for Statesville mayor and for the second at-large seat on the Statesville City Council, according to Iredell County election officials.

Incumbent Mayor Costi Kutteh edged Mayor Pro Tem Michael Johnson by 113 votes in Tuesday's election, but since Kutteh did not receive more than 50 percent of the vote, Johnson can force a run-off.

In the race for two at-large council seats, challenger Steve Johnson won more than 25 percent of the vote in a crowded field to secure one of the spots.

Incumbent William Morgan Jr. finished second, but only received 18.92 percent of the vote so third-place finisher and incumbent Michael Schlesinger can call for a run-off.
