Dr. Suanne Roueche, a scholar and nationally recognized advocate of community colleges and long-time supporter of Mitchell Community College, passed away on Dec. 24. The couple's impact has been felt nationally and in Iredell County. John Roueche graduated from Mitchell College in 1958.
Since 2002, the Roueches have contributed full-time scholarships to support ten Mitchell students per year. In 2015, they established an endowed scholarship with the Mitchell’s Endowment for Excellence– the John & Suanne Roueche Endowed Scholarship Fund – allowing the fund to benefit students in perpetuity.
Suanne Roueche was Senior Lecturer Emeritus in the Department of Educational Administration at The University of Texas at Austin, and Director Emeritus for the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD).
