Kutteh, Johnson to square off again in November for Statesville mayor

Mayor Pro Tem Michael Johnson told Statesville Free News on Wednesday that he would seek a run-off against Statesville Mayor Costi Kutteh in the November election.
Kutteh edged Johnson by 113 votes in a four-person race in Tuesday’s municipal election. Roseta Williams and Kyle Houston finished a distant third and fourth, respectively.
Because Kutteh did not garner more than 50 percent of the votes, Johnson had the right to request a run-off, according to Iredell County elections officials.
Less than 18 percent of registered voters in the city cast ballots in the mayoral race.
The election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 7.
