ICSO investigators asking for public's help in unsolved murder
FROM STAFF REPORTS
Iredell County Sheriff's Office investigators are trying to determine if an SUV parked off Shiloh Road on the afternoon Hugh Lee Moose was murdered in his home was connected to the case.
Moose, 80, was shot and killed in his home in the 500 block of Shiloh Road by an unknown assailant on Jan. 10.
During the investigation, a witness told sheriff's investigators that on the afternoon of Moose's murder a full-size SUV believed to be a Lincoln Navigator, Ford Expedition or similar style vehicle was parked off the side of the road at the Third Creek Bridge on Shiloh Road around 4:30 p.m. or 4:45 p.m., according to an ICSO news release.
Investigators are attempting to locate the vehicle and/or person in the vehicle, Sheriff Darren Campbell said in the news release. It’s unknown at this time if the SUV was connected to the crime, he said.
Several witnesses saw a white male wearing Carhartt-style bibs, a toboggan and backpack in the area around the time of the murder. Investigators have been searching for that individual.
Anyone who has information about this case or the vehicle is asked to call the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Homicide line at (704) 928-9804.
