ICSO attempting to identify theft suspect
FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Iredell County Sheriff's Office is asking the public to help identify a suspect who broke into a vehicle and stole a wallet containing cash and credit cards, one of which was later used to make fraudulent purchases.
The ICSO began investigating after receiving a report on November 3 that a vehicle parked at River Park Apartments in South Iredell had been broken into, Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a news release.
The victim stated that the only thing stolen was the wallet and its contents, according to the news release. After looking at his bank statement, he saw that there were fraudulent charges on one of the cards made at the Mooresville Walmart and the Steak 'N’ Shake in Mooresville, Campbell said.
Detectives were able to obtain video footage of the transaction at Walmart and the suspect. The video shows a black male with long dreadlocks wearing a black hoodie and gray sweatpants.
He arrived at Walmart in a silver or light-color passenger car and entered around 7:30 a.m. and left about 25 minuts later after purchasing men’s shirts and underwear totaling $43.35, according to the news release.
