Iredell-Statesville Schools invites the community to come share the eclipse at a public event.

On Monday, August 21, right after the maximum viewing time for the eclipse, Dr. Jon Landis, U.S. development executive for Apple Inc., will be speaking at Mac Gray Auditorium on campus at Statesville High School.

Dr. Landis is a former professor in the College of Education from Millersville University. He holds his Ph.D. in sociology, a masters degree in educational leadership and a B.S. in chemistry. He has served in all areas of education, as a teacher, principal, and curriculum and technology director.

When the eclipse begins at 2:30 p.m., community members are invited to view from the steps and parking lots of Statesville High. By 3 p.m., the event will move to the auditorium, were Dr. Landis will expand upon the idea of "What if all the light was removed?" He will also discuss the "Why" of technology in education.
