The Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with several local partnering organizations, will host a free job fair from 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Unity Center, located at 1145 Salisbury Road, Statesville.
The job fair will host as around 25 local employers actively seeking new employees for a variety of jobs in the area.
“We expect that there are over 250 current and future jobs that will be showcased at this event,” said David Bradley, president of the Greater Statesville of Commerce. “This reflects the economic growth we have witnessed for the last few years. We believe this type of an event provides a very literal hand in helping community members improve their life and helps local businesses more rapidly realize their economic goals.”
Other coordinating agencies include ICARE, the City of Statesville Human Relations Commission, Fifth Street Ministries, Goodwill, Yokefellow Ministry, the Statesville Housing Authority and Iredell Christian Ministries.
Representatives from these agencies will provide one-on-one assistance to help job seekers gain comfort with the process. This is the second Job Fair designed to take place in “the pockets of higher unemployment.”
The first event, held on Oct. 12, had over 250 attendees; nearly 60 jobs were filled within a week.
“At the last Job Fair, we had a great variety of job opportunities, ranging from $10 per hour to over $20 per hour,” said Bradley. “We expect similar participation with this event.”
