Local detail shop to host community Thanksgiving
FROM STAFF REPORTS
On Wednesday, November 22, J&C's Auto Body and Detail Shop will host a free community Thanksgiving dinner.
Located at 117 McElwee Street, Statesville, the body shop is partnering with JoAnn’s Catering to provide five 20-pound turkeys, in addition to collard greens, stuffing, yams, and mac 'n’ cheese to everyone who attends the free, public event. All food will be made from scratch.
“No one has fellowship anymore. We only argue about differences,” said Chattney Harris, co‐owner of J&C’s Auto Body and Detail Shop, along with his brother Keyon Harris. “Let’s be thankful to spend time together.”
Harris said his inspiration for the event stems from his grandfather, Dr. J.C. Harris, who taught them to give back to the community.
“All we ask is for people to come sit, eat and fellowship,” Chattney wrote in a social media post. “Let’s meet new people. Let’s help Bless someone’s day.”
The auto body shop has been completely cleaned and transformed into a fellowship hall for the event. The public is invited to attend the Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m to 2 p.m.
