Mitchell Community College will host the Lake Norman Orchestra on Saturday, October 28, at 3:30 p.m. in a unique outdoor concert on the Circle of the Statesville campus.
Conducted by Maestro Eduardo Cedeño, the Lake Norman Orchestra is the largest community-based musical arts organization in the South Iredell region. This all-volunteer, non-profit orchestra performs six to eight events a year and reaches a diverse community of listeners. Attendees are advised to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
The concert rain date is Sunday, October 29.
“I am honored and delighted to be presenting the Lake Norman Orchestra on the Circle at Mitchell Community College," Cedeño said. "This group represents some of the finest community musicians, many of them students, in the Lake Norman and surrounding region, who join together to create music for the community.
“It is our hope that the local community will come and support Mitchell Community College’s efforts and take the opportunity to enjoy the LKNO and the repertoire we’ve prepared especially for this event. It’s going to be a great afternoon!”
Mitchell music instructor Emily Schuttenberg shared Cedeño’s enthusiasm for the Lake Norman Orchestra/Mitchell partnership.
“Mitchell has a beautiful campus and while we have had many successful events and concerts outside on the Circle, this is the first time the Lake Norman Orchestra will be here. We partnered together last year for a performance in Mooresville and are delighted to bring this group's talents to the Statesville campus,” said Schuttenberg. “Hearing a full orchestra outside is a wonderful experience for our community residents to enjoy!”
