An estimated 2,000 people attended Rocky Mount United Methodist Church’s annual Easter egg hunt and celebration on Saturday morning. Attendees enjoyed an assortment of inflatable attractions as they awaited the arrival of the Easter Bunny via helicopter to officially kick off the festivities.
Kids got their faces painted, played a variety of games to win prizes, and enjoyed craft-making booths.
Folks also put their names in for a drawing for a dozen jam-packed Easter baskets.
Volunteers handed out helium-filled balloons, soft drinks and water and popcorn to the crowd, who also enjoyed hot dogs and all the trimmings and fresh-made cotton candy in the fellowship hall.
Busy volunteers also set up five age-appropriate egg hunts for children, who vied to fill their baskets with the candy filled eggs. Those who missed their appointed time got another chance to fill their baskets at the final “rotten egg” hunt.
Rocky Mount church members have put on this annual community outreach event for over 20 years to bring families together for a fun morning as they begin the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the Easter morning.
