Harmony Elementary celebrates two years of STEM education during family night
FROM STAFF REPORTS
Parents of Harmony Elementary students got a chance to experience firsthand what STEM education is all about during the school’s annual family night on Thursday.
The school is in its second year of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics-Ag based-learning and STEM activities were the night’s focus.
During the event, parents and students worked together to solve problems and create a product.
Parents and students used the engineering design model to solve problems. This allows them to attempt and fail and then finally succeed in building and creating items.
Tasks ranged from building structures to creating catapults.
“This type of night really gives parents a better understanding what students are charged to do in school,” explained Principal Andy Mehall. “We’re developing thinkers and problems solvers.”
