Iredell Memorial volunteers donate blankets to Hospice
Special to SVLfreenews.com
A gift from the volunteers at Iredell Memorial Hospital will bring warmth to people across Iredell County.
Volunteer Vera Webster, who is 95 years young, crochets colorful blankets and shawls for oncology patients at Iredell Memorial. She made more blankets than the hospital patients could use, so volunteers donated the surplus to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
Hospice CEO Teresa Phillips said their team of social workers will take the shawls and lap blankets to their patients receiving inpatient and at-home care.
“Ms. Vera and our volunteers work selflessly to help our staff, patients and guests at Iredell Memorial and their generosity extends beyond the walls of this hospital,” said Iredell Health System Volunteer Coordinator Pam Wooten. “We are always happy to make a positive impact in the lives of our neighbors and we hope others who enjoy giving back will consider volunteering with us.”
